Information for New Residents
NOTE: Please add all Housing Office emails from the Contact Page to your email safe list. This will prevent important emails from ending up in your Junk Mail folder.
Moving into residence
Dates and Times. The move-in dates and times for Fall 2012 are TBD. Please like our Facebook page to receive updates about move-in dates and times. You will also be informed of the move in details in the placement emails that will start going out at the end of June.
What to do when you arrive. If arriving within the designated move in times, new residents should go directly to their residence building. There a Resident Assistant (RA) will check you in and give you any keys/cards/fobs that you need to access your room.
If arriving outside of the designated times, an RA may not available to move you in, so it is best to contact the housing office before your arrival. Check-ins may not be permitted after 8:00pm on the move-in day, and 10:00pm after move-in day; those arriving after hours will need to make alternate arrangements at a hotel or hostel for that night.
For residence updates you can do the following:
Securing your place in residence
Security/damage deposits. The security deposit for your room must be paid within 5 business days of the placement offer email. Make sure you check your email regularly and add all Housing Office email addresses from to your safe list: if you don’t pay the deposit by the deadline (for whatever reason) your room be offered to another applicant.
NOTE: Paying the security deposit commits you to the Residence Contract and the rules in the Residence Handbook, and is only refundable once you have completed the terms of the contract.
The security deposit is paid on the StarRez Portal. See the Portal section below for more information.

MANDATORY First-Year Resident Orientation. Each Fall the Housing Office holds a mandatory information session for first-year residents, followed by a scavenger hunt and BBQ lunch. All new residents must attend this session to learn information essential to live in residence. New residents who do not attend will have to pay a fine of $25, so you will not want to miss it!
Residence orientation sessions are held only once a year in September.
